First try at a Jalie pattern

... And it certainly won't be my last. As I type, I have a second version of this pattern, with longer sleeves, that just needs hemming.
Jalie #2794 - Sweetheart Top

As so many people have testified before, this is a great pattern. In fact, I loved it so much that after I'd made this top, I decided to order the first Jalie dress pattern that just came out. The only thing that threw me for a loop with Jalie was the 0.6 mm seam allowances. I'm really not used to working with such small allowances, and I guess mine inched more towards 1 cm than 0.6 mm.
I used the size S all around (which as I just explained ended up being a smaller-than-planned size S), and the back could do with a slightly snugger fit.
You know what - I'll just have to remedy this in my third version. ;)

That's such a pretty top! You're so clever, making all your own clothes :)

I usually move the needle over so that it's 1/4" away from the edge of my presser foot, but you could also get a quilting edge foot that has a little flap of metal that helps keep you in line if you can't move your needle position from side to side. Also, if you have a serger, (on mine at least) the standard 4-thread overlock is almost exactly 1/4" as well. Hope that helps for next time! :-) I love the finished shirt too, it looks so pretty on you! :-)

I love it too, Isabelle. You're so gorgeous that everything looks good on you :o)

I’d prefer slightly longer sleeves but I never liked those very short ones since they came into fashion, they remind me of mini-skirts – you need lovely arms to wear them.

I often use 6 mm allowances because when I was still learning the basic sewing skills it was easier for me to keep even narrow seam allowances - especially sewing curves. Wider ones were all over the place.

That is really pretty and very flattering on. I have never tried a Jalie pattern, but I want to.

Lovely tee with pretty details! Especially love the colour on you.

I do have the pattern and know it is pretty popular but have never tried a Jalie myself. Your version is making me lean towards a try soon.

This is so pretty, Isabelle! Very figure-alluring shape, like the bit of gathering at the bust, and not least that soft lavendery-blue fabric! This looks great on you! Will be eager to see your longer-sleevered version soon. :o) Happy Weekend, dear friend ((HUGS))

Looks great! When I first used Jalie patterns, I wasn't used to the smaller seam allowance, either. For the first few, I cut an extra 3/8" to give myself the 5/8" seam allowance that I was used to having. I'm much better with the seam allowances now, and just use them as drafted.

Hello my dear friend !
Your top is really pretty, I like the sweet colour of the fabric and (oups, je repasse au français) la jolie forme des épaules qui suggère un petit boléro ... j'ai hâte de voir les prochaines versions ...
Gros bisous !

Chapeau pour ce haut, il est parfait. Si j'ai bien compris jalie est une marque de patrons? Est il concu spécialement pour jersey et surjetteuse?
En tous cas il te vas comme un gant.
