She Says it All so Well - Cidell
This post is totally out of the blue, but what Cidell so aptly described here is exactly what happened to me on this blog last week; I mean, this kind of things happens every now and then, but this time it was particularly obnoxious, and on my very birthday, no less. It was also totally unrelated to the garment I was showing, or to anything I was saying. It was pure spite directed at my person. I know this anonymous a**hole doesn’t deserve this, but it still hurts. I wasn't going to mention it here - obviously I deleted the comment and have since been moderating all comments. But Cidell's article really helps me come to terms with it.
I do hope you go read her article.
I'm glad I snatched a few minutes to read your blog today, Cidell.
This of course, doesn't make me overlook all the wonderful and caring comments you guys leave here. They really mean a lot to me, and I wish I had the time to reply to each of them separately. I do always click on the link you provide and go visit your own spots of the web - and always enjoy what you share!
Sometimes also - especially for recent commenters, whom I heartily welcome - the Blogger profile under which you're posting links back to a blank page, so that I cannot leave an acknowledgement in any way. I want you to know that I would otherwise be delighted to go visit your own blog, or profile.

On my sewing table is still the Butterick retro 5209, which I've currently put on hold to make a jacket, McCall's 5477:I'm making view B in a burgundy wrinkled poly. It's like taffeta, but thicker than the usual stuff.
All the little bits are cut out and I'm hoping to start the sewing tonight.
However, it might be a few more days/weeks before I manage to show you a new project. I've been sick as a dog (flu with a fever) over the past week, and am slowly starting to feel better today.
More importantly, a whole lot of things await me in the days/weeks to come; so I'll probably catch up with you all later.
See you guys. Keep on sewing, and be proud of the beauty you create! I may not have been up to commenting much lately, but I've been enjoying and admiring your creations very much. Thanks for sharing, for the inspiration and for the eye candy!

So sorry your birthday was the worst ever. Don't let that worry you and go on! I was expecting a lot from my 50th birthday, instead I was kind of dropped out. It did hurt at the time, but on that day I decided I would always travel on my birthday, and enjoy myself. this is what I did last year, and it was great!
Regarding comments, you can't prevent people to be mean or cruel, but they are not worth taking notice.
I can assure you that reading your blog is always a nice moment. And don't worry about commenting back, I think we all know how hectic life can be.
Take good care of you!
Oh Sweetie - Happy birthday to you. Anybody that has been reading your blog and knows you even just a little bit could not possibly leave you a horrible comment. I cannot believe that it has happened to you. Please know that I love reading your blog and I often send my positive vibes across the ocean to you dear Isabelle & petite mignon too. Many hugs to you.
So sorry to hear that you received such comments.
Hope you're feeling better and get done the things that you want done. Looking forward to your creations, whenever you make them and have time to post. Just take your time with everything.
Sorry you had that happen to you. Some people are such idiots! I missed your previous post but think your dress is gorgeous. Happy belated birthday as well!
Oooh, that McCall jacket is going to be tres chic! I hope you feel better soon. :(
grosses bises!
Doris
Isn't it a pity how one awful comment can ruin your day? This happens to me too. I forget how random and open the Internet really is. I've met so many wonderful people that I am always shocked and often embarrassed when I am taken advantage of or verbally abused by those few nasty evil people lurking out there in cyberspace.
How awful that someone would leave nasty comments on your blog!
That jacket is going to be beautiful
Glad to see you blogging again. I missed your wonderful creations. You look fabulous despite your trials. I hope that better days are ahead and I look forward to seeing your new sewing.
I don't know what possesses people to be so nasty. This has certainly hit a sore spot with a number of bloggers.
I'm hoping that you'll soon be back in the full bloom of health and that the upcoming things that you mentioned will go smoothly.
Hope you are feeling better soon, and your new project sounds wonderful :)
Hope you feel better soon :) That jacket is lovely. Good luck with it.
Well got such a anonymous comment too and vented on my blog about it. I just don't understand people that do such things, but there are just people like that, just don't know why.
isn't amazing how one negative comment can stick with us? i will say "don't let one idiot get to you," but i know that i would probably react the same way.
i can say this with absolute certainty... i always enjoy reading your blog. i always enjoy seeing photos of your sewing, and that gorgeous cat.
Oh dear. Hugs to you. It seems like you're already having a rough spot and this certianly didn't help. I'm looking forward to your new jacket, I think the style will be perfect for you.
So, I guess it happens to everyone. I don't understand why some people seem to have nothing better to do than to go around blogs (sewing blogs of all) and be rude and hurtfull.
I decided right away to moderate my comments - if I ever get some :)
Just started my first own blog.
I love your blog and hope you get as much support as you deserve.
I don;t know how anyone could have a mean thing to say about you!! Just ignore hem, and know they're petty & unhappy people.
You, on the other hand, bring us smiles!
Happy Birthday!
The jacket is superb. Heal wel Isabelle. Ann
Just wanted to say how glad I am that you are posting again; yours was one of the first sewing blogs I ever read, and it was a lovely introduction into the world of stitching! Please don't be disheartened by the foolish and insincere out there; there are plenty of us who enjoy and look forward to your posts and lovely creations. Get well soon and belated happy birthday to you.
Well I say 'poop!' to the nasty anonymous commenter and big hugs to you Isabelle, because you most definately rock!
I'm sorry someone tried to ruin your birthday. There seems to be a rude commenter epidemic around the blogosphere lately.
I hope you get well very soon!
Happy Belated Birthday! Ignore the negativity, your blog is much appreciated! I love seeing your beautiful sewing creations, and seeing your furry child- what a pretty girl! Bridget
Perhaps their mummy doesn't cuddle them enough....
Or smack them enough.
Or perhaps a big boy has pulled their pigtail and ran away.
Or pushed them over in the playground.
Or perhaps they're not REALLY 5 years old at all, just behaving like it. Could it be true?
Hope you are feeling better soon. Sorry about the comments .
Here's a comment that should make you smile. I've begun to cross stitch. And I like it. Thanks for sharing .
Happy belated birthday, Isabelle! Je te souhaite plein de bonnes choses pour le présent et l'avenir!
Frustrated for you! Hope it helps that 99.9% of us think you are wonderful! Hope your birthday was great anyways.
I'm sorry for the upsetting comments, Isabelle. You don't deserve that at all. I subscribe to Cidell's every word
Big kiss
A belated birthday wish and hugs! I hope you have picked yourself up and dusted off. That person is not worth any of your time. It's amazing what the purported anonymity of the internet brings out in people. I started moderating comments several years ago for exactly that reason. Since then, I don't get the unwanted idiots posting to my blog.
You are a great, gorgeous person. And your birthday dress is TDF!
I've left an award for you on my blog! Enjoy!

I made this jacket and had real difficulty with the pattern. The pattern didn't seem to fit together properly. See my early blog entries for details. I was looking at it the other night and have decided (now that I am more experienced) that I can't live with the mistakes. I'm pulling it apart and remaking it!
Isabelle - you are a truly talented seamstress...especially under such beautifully fluffy tutelage. I awarded you the Attitude of Gratitude on my blog!
:)
Happy belated birthday, dear Isabelle. Your birthday dress is lovely. Regarding naming your dress: Isabelle + beautiful blue dress = Bluebelle.
As I tell my daughters, don't let the b*****ds get you down! You are one of the sweetest people blogging. Only someone truly sick would leave you a negative comment. It's a pleasure to have you back. Hope that you have fully recovered from the nasty flu and wish you all the best for your 29th year.
Sue
So sorry this happened! What a way to have your B-day ruined.
Also, happy belated B-day. Sorry I missed it last week. Your B-day dress was gorgeous! Such a beautiful sapphire color.
Totally agree with Cidell!
I hope you are feeling better. You are missed, as is P'tite Mignonne.
