P'tite Mignonne got a gift

P'tite Mignonne / Miss Cutie just received a glorious surprise in the mail.
You may first need to know that P'tite Mignonne has a far-away twin in my friend Molly's kitty, Lily Bart (oh, the name!). Just as Molly and I share an astounding lot in common, so do our two furry friends.

When Molly made a Kitty Pi bed for Lily, I mentioned to her on Ravelry that I had wanted to adapt the pattern to loom knitting - but that it probably wouldn't happen before months. Molly took pity on poor P'tite Mignonne and thought how unfair it would be that Lily would have her bed while her alter ego would be waiting for so long.

P'tite Mignonne definitely understood that this was a gift meant for her. She made herself comfortable right away and started purring loudly. As I am typing this a couple of hours later, she still hasn't got out of it, and lets out occasional groans of bliss.

Can you see how perfectly the colours suit her? Grey and cream, just like her; and purple as a reminder of the official name she had when we adopted her from a shelter - Violette. (we still find her official name cute, but P'tite Mignonne came naturally and has stuck ever since. She does respond to P'tite Mignonne, but not to Violette anymore)

Thank you, Molly, for this beautiful gift, and for the love that inspired it. Thanks to you, there are two happy souls in Paris today!

(This also reminds me, I've been meaning forever to show you the loom-knit projects I have made over the past year... but have yet to do so. While I haven't sewn in eons, I may hopefully find a few minutes soon to upload pictures of these for your enjoyment. )

Insane

Apart from the Amsterdam interlude, that's what life has been for the past 6 weeks.
I've been working from 9 am to 11 pm or midnight. Every day, including weekends.
So, no sewing, no blogging, no nothing.
But - I am loving my work, and making good progress. :)

Besides, this serene companion helps balance out any insanity.

Sorry, friends. I'll be back as soon as I can!

Amsterdam - Take One

We hardly took any pictures because we were too busy exploring. I spent most of the weekend on a bike that was too tall for me. First time on a Dutch bike, too, with back-pedalling brakes. Quite an experience. Quite fun. Definite proof that my tarsus is now fully healed. Yay!

The white stuff you can see on my hair is hailstones. The weather was mainly fine, though. Honestly. Anyway, as a girl from the northernest tip of France, I felt quite at home in this weather.

As a girl from the French Flanders, too, I felt truly at home in the Dutch environment and architecture. Take a look at this map and you'll know what I mean. I had never been to Amsterdam, but the city felt much more like home to me than Paris. Not that I don't like Paris, mind you. But Amsterdam is so much closer to where I spent the first twenty years of my life.

(I loom-knit this béret over a year ago! I'll share more real soon, promise).

Now that it is materially possible for me to stay overnight at Seb's, we hope to get together there every 6 weeks or so. The next visits should be planned further ahead and hopefully allow me to meet some friends! :)

AND, I came home to these adorable just-because gift and card from dear Sylvie:

Here's one of my favourite double-page spreads:

Isn't it adorable?
Merci, Sylvie !

You can expect to see some of these sweet designs on onesies in the shop, whenever... whenever I get around to make some. Which is, ah, not just right now. But soon! Hopefully.
(And Barbara, I am not forgetting about you... (((hugs)))) )
