Wow, I don't usually post twice in a day, but I would really like your opinion here :)
You see, I would like to try and make up a little jacket this weekend, for the conference I'll be attending next week, and then for the start of classes.
I'll be using a black cotton sateen. I would like the jacket to go with the little Indémodable dress I just shared with you.
Both jackets are unlined and seem quick and easy.

I'd probably shorten it to above the waist
I'm rather leaning towards Vogue 8319, as it was designed to go with a sheath dress (and I do plan to make the dress too some time - I love that pattern, and was so excited to see that was the very dress you showed us today, Summerset!). However, I really like the exaggerated Peter Pan collar on Vogue 8300. Time is too tight for me to merge the two patterns together.
Would you mind voting and/or giving me your opinion in the comments, if so inclined?

I really like both jackets and it's hard to decide between the two... Either one will work well with your dress - which is fabulous, by the way!
I voted for the first (which I hope to make soon, too) only because I think the fullness of the sleeves and at the hem will balance out the slim dress nicely. But either would look great, I'm sure.
I voted for the first. I'm not very fond of the collar of the second one... But as it's a drawing maybe it would be different for real.
It looks like your favourite is winning, Isabelle!
I definitely like the first one. That curved edge in the Jacket gives it that extra edge over the Peter Pan collar jacket. But that is my preference. Which ever one you sew I know will look good on you as you have the right figure for it and also what a talented seamstress you are.
I can't help myself loving the Vogue! Whatever pattern you chose, it will be a lovely jacket!
Many Hugs!
I voted for the second, but I like them both and they will both look great with the dress.
Thanks for the shout out! Since I've made up 8319, I'll give you my opinion. It's a great jacket, but will take some time to fit properly because of the two piece raglan sleeves. Even mine doesn't fit quite like I'd like it to. The other jacket will be easier and quicker to stitch up due to less pattern pieces. I think that for a quick to make 8300 is a better choice. You could make the sleeves of 8300 shorter and wider to mimic 8319's without too much trouble.
Whatever you chose, it will look chic with the sheath dress!
My favorite is winning! I like the Vogue.
And you are rocking that black number too!
I like the raglan sleeves best. But either is good. Just shorten like you suggested. Being petite, I think you may need a bit of waist to show to not make you look boxy. BTW, the Indemodable dress is divine! We have a designer here in Austalia who names all her pieces. I think that is a very cute idea!
Oh I love both of them - in fact I own both patterns. I vote for 8319 - I favor it ever so slightly over 8300.
8319 with buttons. It reminds me of Jackie O. I loved her style. If I had the body, I'd copy it!
I prefer the Peter Pan collar-I'm not so taken with the sillouette of the raglan sleeve jacket-however either would be great. As a general rule I usually go for an odd number of buttons-1,3 or 5-if you go with the Peter Pan I'd encourage you to give 3 buttons some thought rather than 2-I agree the 4 buttons look ironically 'odd'
Although I love the first pattern, I am a bit concerned that the pattern will be "too big" for your frame. Although it should stand away from the body, I bet you will have to cut it down in size in several directions. Summerset is right that the Peter Pan collared jacket would be easier to make, but aside from the collar, the rest of the jacket is boring.
It was an easy vote for me! Those raglan sleeves wrapped around my heart! My mom used to be a fashion designer before she had us kids, and wow, that photo reminded me of some of her old drawings!
If you don't mind me asking: what shoulders do you have?
If your shoulders are narrow than the wide collar of the Vogue 8300 (Peter Pan collar) would give you a more even silouette (or shape), while the raglan style of Vogue 8319 is more for broad or wide shoulders, which would be softened by this style.
As you can see, both styles are for different shoulder types.
I don't know if that is of any help but sometimes you can enhance your style knowing little things like that and sometimes it makes decision making easier.
Hello, it's me again !
I voted for the first one, because I simply love the button not being in the middle (it's not "good English"...). But I'm sure that you can make a lovely jacket with either ...
Good work with it !
J'aime beaucoup la 1ère, elle a un petit côté Jackie Kennedy qui t'irait très bien :)
I voted for the first jacket - beautiful! BTW, I love the new dress.
Bon, je vais être un peu en opposition avec la vox populi mais, même si le premier modèle est très beau, je préfère le second pour son large col, ce qui me paraît plus original.
A bientôt.
I voted for 8319. Just loved the design :D happy working on your new project
Your new dress is wonderful! Very smart! Cotton sateen is a great fabric. A little jacket will finish off the look nicely...and both patterns are great. I voted for 8319, the first pattern. Being a small person as you (like me :o) the simple collar on the 8319 might be more flattering. That peter pan collar on the other one might be "too much". A shortened version of 8319 would be perfect for you little black dress. Can't wait to see which jacket you finish! I've been wanting to do some clothing sewing lately too...so many great patterns to choose from though! Happy weekend to you ((HUGS))
Too late to vote but I'm sure you had enough participants to make a wise choice. Hope you had fun sewing it today.
Love your little black dress - it looks great on you.
I'm too late for the poll :-(.
I like the first design better!
Your indémodable dress looks really good on you! You're right, it'll never go out of fashion!
have a good time in Italy!

Hello my dear Isabelle,
I hope you take a little time to sleep this week-end , beetween your work and your sewing ...
Sweet kisses.
Too late to vote but still. Love the first one, the Jackie O look goes perfectly with your indemodable dress (that has the same Jackie look :))
suis en retard pour voter mais je préfère le premier :o)
I was too late for the vote, but I would have chosen 8319 too. :-) You will be stunning ;-) Ann.
I'm too late for the poll, but I have made Vogue 8300 with the oversized collar and love it. The large collar extends over my shoulders a bit and makes my narrow shoulders look broader. However, I think both patterns are lovely and either would look good on you.

i presume the jacket is already finished:) can we seee ittttttt :)
bisous tout doux pour vous 3
All your projects turn out so lovely, I'm sure whichever one you pick will look great. My favorite of the two though is 8300, I like the collar and the way the buttons are set in the middle, it just looks more balanced to me that way. Can't wait to see which one you pick and how it turns out.
Sue
So? Which one did you make?
Je te fais plein de gros bisous pour te soutenir pour ta conférence... Bon courage de nous deux!
Bisous
So funny...
As I am really hesitating to use the pattern drawn by myself,I decided to buy a pattern...
I've found one at Bouchara on the Vogue collection, back to my PC I've decided to see if some "cousettes" have already sew it and I've found your post.
Now I remeber I've voted for the 8319's jacket and the patter I've baught is the 8319 !
