Friendship, sewing and kitties...

... make for the best times!

(clickable mosaic)
Sylvie, Julie, P'tite Mignonne/Lil' Cutie and I had such a great time yesterday. We had hoped to get more sewing done, but the day flew by. It does take some time to introduce the principles of pattern reading and cutting/tracing, to explain the notions of grain, cross-grain and bias of a fabric... Especially when you try to do it well, have a very conscientious student - and, well, when the sewing talk is interspersed with lots of friendly chit-chat and kitty-cuddling! :)

I know next time will be more productive for all of us (n'est-ce pas, Julie & Sylvie ?). And I can't wait to see Julie's first dress! She is making New Look 6676, view A, with no flounce. I picked the fabric for her as she wasn't able to go fabric-shopping before the workshop. Hope it will work well for her dress.

P'tite Mignonne was thrilled see her nanny again.

Sylvie made us each an adorable snail pincushion...

Sylvie has got such great taste and talent - and *such* sweetness! Each time I'm fortunate enough to meet her again, I am struck anew by her absolute sweetness - in her voice, her gestures, her way of talking, everything. That lady is one in a million.
She also gave me her charts of Blackberrie Sampler and Celtic Banner, which she both finished this year, including the leftover silks... so generous. And a CD with her pictures and videos of August 4, which I can't wait to see!

As for Julie... We have so many common points in very various areas of our lives that it's kind of creepy sometimes. But, just enough difference in our characters and jobs to make it interesting! :) I am so grateful for the fact that she lives just outside Paris and that we can thus arrange to meet on a short notice if we wish to.
We had salmon and leek pie for lunch; to go with the dessert - a fruit salad which Seb very kindly prepared for us before he left for work - I made kitty-shaped chocolate biscuits using a cookie-cuter we bought in Sweden.

Yes - sewing, kitties and friends definitely mix well together :)

I only wish we could do that more often! :)

Your cat is so beautiful! I had one nearly identical to her for sixteen years. Quille died in 1994, and I haven't seen many other cats since that have that same coloring.

I love that your kitty is at the center of all the action in all the photos. She reminds me of a cat (Roxanne) that I had several years ago.

The cookies are so charming, too. I have a cat cookie cutter but it's not nearly as cute.

Retour tout en douceur d'une convalescente encore bien limitée, mais qui te dit toute son amitié. Sans doute la Rentrée est-elle aussi dans ton actualité, alors bon courage et à bientôt. Merci pour toutes tes paroles encourageantes cet été.
