Jenna's Jewels - and a Beadiful Hairvine

Wow! Thank you ever so much for the wonderful comments on our wedding picture! I'll make sure Seb reads them. I don't think I ever got so many comments on a single post. Thank you - such love!

Before showing you the two dresses in greater detail, I wanted to share with you the wonderful jewellery set that my friend Jenna custom-made for the wedding. Dear Jenna created an exquisite necklace, bracelet and earrings set, carefully matching the beads' colours with the colour of the dress' fabric. Although Jenna had sent me pictures by email, I gasped and even shed a tear or two when her package reached me and I disovered her stunning work! So, so special and precious for all the skill, care and love that were put into it.

When I finished the first dress (the one made in dupioni), I added a trim to the empire waistline to match Jenna's jewels.

Seb wished me to wear my hair down for the wedding, but I wanted to show off Jenna's earrings; I compromised and put them in a ponytail: this way, it was still flowing about, as per Seb's wishes, but the earrings were not lost among the mass of hair.
I wore the necklace for the afternoon/evening reception, but not during the religious ceremony, as I wanted to look a little more low-key for the wedding in itself. (Hence the change of dress, as well).

Thank you so very much Jenna - you know how much it meant to me that you made this set just for our wedding... I immensely enjoyed wearing it - it made me feel pretty! Everyone admired the jewels, so you got mentioned quite a number of times during the day :) ((((hugs))))

The hair jewellery I bought on Etsy - I treated myself to it when I sold that quilt. The seller, Ann of Beadiful Things, was just lovely and she, too, custom-made the vine to match my dress. I highly recommend her work, it is as unique and beautiful as she is sweet. I absolutely adore the hairvine, so airy and delicate.

I had put my hair in curlers overnight and made a simple ponytail before the ceremony, wrapping the elastic in a lock of hair that was secured with a couple of hairpins. Then I wrapped the hairvine from under the ponytail, and secured it with a couple of pins as well. It stayed secure all through the day and evening. There were so many ways of using the vine, it is very versatile. (Should you be interested, I could post pictures of other hair options I had tried in the weeks before the wedding. :) )

It was so special to know my whole outfit was handmade and one of a kind! Just like the ceremony itself, thanks to the wonderful priest who's been helping and following us for a year, and thanks to my brother and sisters' a-ma-zing music.

Pictures of the dupioni dress will follow soon. I'm waiting for more pictures of the religious wedding to show you the dress I wore in the morning, as I have very few right now that show the whole dress from head to toe, and especially that show the back.
I must really get back to my work now... There is still so much work to finish before we may allow ourselves leave on Saturday. Boy, are we dying for our week's holiday!
