But thank you...

Your wonderful comments actually brought tears to my eyes. Wow, the friendship and caring... I just don't have any words. There were even some new commenters - thank you, everyone. I could spend hours responding to each and every comment... I have treasured every single one of them.
As if to prove your point, Ann sent me a wonderful RAK parcel last week. Yes, RAKs, or Acts of Kindness (which, like Becky, I feel more to the point), do feel ten times better than "expected" gifts! :) :)
I have decided to go back to my own projects, which (apart from a new dress) I haven't touched since, oh... November?
I do plan on sending little store-bought gifties for birthdays, to the extent of my abilities. But handmade goodies will now be sent as unexpected AOKs. :)
Thank you so much, everyone, for so sincerely responding to my quandary, and for putting my heart at rest.
To end this on a smile... Here's a picture of Robin, now big enough to sport his 3-months auntie-embroidered onesies!

As if her continued sweetness was not enough, she sent this incredibly personalized box - a box custom-made for a happy auntie! Ann's care and friendship, as your kindness this week, have made me all warm and fuzzy.

{{{Hugs}}} - Have a great weekend Isabelle!
Oh look at Robin! What an adorable baby!
Hooray!! I am so happy to hear you're going to be stitching and sewing for yourself! That's SUCH a wise decision. Robin is simply adorable, and the package you received from your friend is so sweet!
Enjoy your weekend!

awww...he is so adorable. Waiting to be carried ? must be wondering why his aunty is carrying something else and not him.
Wow, look at Robin! I love seeing him in his lovely auntie-embroidered onesie. He's getting big!
So glad you are feeling better! I know Ann too, and yes, she truly is wonderful!
Robin sure has grown, and he looks so cute in your decorated onsie. Your gift from Ann looks perfect, the little Giraffe and Bear patterns will be fun to stitch.
Making more gifts as RAK's (rather than at designated predictible times) sounds like an excellent approach. That way you get less stress and the recipient gets a wonderful surprise, they get the present and the knowledge you didn't stress out making it for them.

What a wonderful gift from Ann - it is easy to see everthing was chosen with great care & love. An amazing RAK.
My how Robin has grown. What a beautiful nephew you have.

Dear Isabelle,
What a beautiful gift from Ann. I can almost seeing you with a wide smile.
Robin has grown so much and what lovely little baby he is.
Lovely packet from Ann - she sounds like a true friend of the heart. :)
And Robin! My goodness! How can he already be so big?
Oh my gosh, what a darling picture!!! Love that lamb onesie - too cute.
AOK? I like that term. It's "a-okay" with me to get a gift whenever the spirit moves someone. It feels great when someone says, "I saw this and it was SO you, I had to get it." Could be green earrings or a pretty 2-dollar journal with stargazer lilies on the front, or a tiny book of children's funny one-liners. Robin is a real keeper. Love his face!!!

Nice package from Ann. Robin sure is growing fast. He is so cute. He looks great in outfit you made him.
That parcel from Ann is too cute-as is Master Robin. He's really getting big.
I am so happy to hear that you are feeling in better spirits now. The AOK from Ann is so deserved by you.And what a nice selection of gifties she sent.
Robin is just adorable. The onsie you did for him is precious as is Robin.
What a wonderful gift box from Ann :) I'm so glad you're not stressing any more. I needed to take my own advice too - so your post helped me. Thank you my friend :) {{{hugs}}}
OK she is a CUTIE!! Glad you are feeling better - I do enjoy reading your blog.

What a thoughtful, nice gift from your friend, it is perfect :-)) I'm pleased to hear you are feeling more settled and are doing some things for yourself. Enjoy your spare time for your hobbies, it is too precious :-))
Have a nice week and tell your sister I think Robin is adorable and very handsome!!
Glad your feeling better. As always Robin is an absolute dream! I just want to pick him up and cuddle him. :o)
Hope you're feeling better and manage to have some time for yourself!
Wow, Isabelle! I hope you can steal away a few more moments for yourself. Do remember that you are going through a temporary lag in fiber arts only due to outside stresses (like a thesis!). Once you're through this tough spot, you'll be back to your old self. We all have periods like this in our lives, I think that true friends would understand.
{{Hugs}} to you Isabelle! I'm experiencing some of the same struggles right now. Hang in there my friend!
Isabelle,
I gave up stitching completely to finish my dissertation. I got to work an hour earlier and went to the library then went back to the library after dinner for 2-3 hours. Unfortunately, to finish, you have to focus. In the end, finishing was way better than not. It has its own rewards.

Bonjour Isabelle!=)
I had to go through the same sort of thing recently too. Although I don't stitch for birthdays, I often feel I need to mark everyone's special event with a hand stitched card and gift or else it's not fair to those who get 'left out' etc. Really though, I needed to be more reasonable with myself and make priorities. I started stitching when I was at home almost all the time ill, but now I have much more going on, so it's no longer the same. I can't stitch all day anymore!!!
Sometimes I make papercraft cards for people and only do gifts for really big things and cards for special anniversaries. It's hard, but needs must, huh?
Je t'embrasse,
Elisabeth=)
