Inspired

Last weekend, I wanted to whip up a surprise giftie to my friend Ann in Belgium. I made her something I'd been wanting to do for a while: scented pillows! I was reminded of them by Stacy of Stacy Sews last week, and this gave me the final impetus.
What I like best with those is their huge potential for personalization. This is great fun and a nice way to match a friend's tastes.
For Ann, I chose a red scheme and clean lines:

The largest is trimmed with French cotton lace.
The medium one was cut in a Liberty I bought in London.
The smallest one is machine-embroidered.

I sprinkled the polyfill stuffing with the organic lavender essential oil I use to scent my laundry.

This inspired me to do more this week, along the lines of my Christmas kitty ornies:

Some of them are filled with cloves, one with lavender, and one with gardenia scent (to make spring come faster!).

I've long been encouraged by friends and family to sell some of my stuff...And I need to finance a very special project I'll tell you about in a while.
So...
They're in my little Etsy shop!

~*~
Have a great weekend everyone.

I LOVE the cat ornaments! I have 3 panels of this fabric and I've been at a loss to decide what to do with it. You've given me some ideas here, to at least start the ball rolling!

Lovely gifts for Ann too :)

Very cute finishes, I love the idea of turning them into sachets. My only problem if I made some would be if I left them out, I think one of my furbabies would want to run off with it.

I am sure Ann is absolutely delighted with the gifties. They are beautiful!
The Christmas orinies are lovely and it is a great idea to fill them up with spices. I think your family and friends are right in saying that you should sell. I wish you the very best with them

Beautiful sachets! Congrats on your Etsy shop! You are such a talent, that I am sure you will be able to easily fund whatever you have in mind!

I love sachets. They just really make a closet or drawer smell wonderful. I used to sew up simple little ones and stuff them with used dryer sheets for that fresh-laundered smell. But lavendar would be heavenly, too! wish I could afford the shipping to have you make me one. Or 2 or 3 or 12!

Dear Zo, shipping one of these would cost $2 anywhere in the world. They're very lightweight! :)

Alright, now that I've finally caught up here and fixed the problems on bloglines, I have lots of comments!

First off, I can't believe how big Robin is getting so quickly. And look how adorable he looks in his little romper from his auntie!
I love the sachets, and I'm so happy that you went ahead and started selling your work. You know I've been waiting for that :)

I hope that you're feeling better for this weekend. Give Robin extra kisses from across the ocean, I've got baby fever over here!

Very sweet scented pillows! I love how you varied the sizes, finished techniques and colors so that they stacked up into such a pretty pyramid. You are just so creative!

I'm glad that you opened an Etsy shop, as well. Your talent deserves to be financed. :) Just be careful with stuffing things with any sorts of organic materials, especially if you will be shipping overseas. The fillings may well cause the items to not pass through customs and they will wind up being destroyed. I wouldn't want anything like that to befall your beautiful creations!

Very, very cute sachets! I'm a big fan of Laurel Burch and these sort of look similar so I'm loving them!

Super job!

Isabelle, then by all means I'll take one! You know my tastes. Love greens, purples, periwinkles and neutrals. International themes or foreign words are a bonus. But please feel no pressure AT ALL. I hate to even mention it because you just might see an "order" as a burden. I don't care if it takes 2 years or you get another nephew in the meantime!

hi Isabelle,

I saw your comment on my blog, or should I say: ex-blog...? Thanks for stopping by. I still visit all of your blogs, but much less than I used to because of other duty's.
It's again fantastic what you have made in the meantime. It's always a joy for the eye.
I hope you had a great time with Robin and the other familymembers. Good luck with your work and greetings for Sebastian.
