5 things you probably don't know about me

I was tagged by Sewing Queen Summerset the other day. (If you haven't seen her American Beauty ensemble yet, let me warn you - your jaw will hit the floor! This is truly Haute Couture.)
Summerset asked me to post 5 things about me that I have never posted.

1. I don't blog about all my sewing projects - sometimes I don't find the time, or am too lazy to take pictures, or don't want to bother Seb (if it's a garment for me), or have forgotten to take a picture of my work before giving it away. There are a few clothes, etc., that you have never seen! Like the Pointy Kitty Karen made a version of last week. I made one a year ago. Or a denim box-pleated skirt. That must have been 18 months ago. Or...

2. I mainly listen to classical music - especially opera, Lieder, religious music, Chopin. I always have. If it wasn't for Seb I'd probably not be listening to much else! Which would be a shame. I'm not some sort of a snob, it's just the way I am - and it's part of the special bond I have with my father. He's the one who introduced me to opera.

3. According to my singing teacher 10 years ago, I could have turned a professional singer, if I started working full time on my voice. That didn't exactly coincide with my mother's academic plans for me. I don't mind, I was definitely not cut out for that kind of life - and I would never have met Seb, and have the life we have together. I do mind immensely the fact I haven't seriously sung in years. Cathy knows something about it!

4. I asked for baptism at 15 and followed a 2-year catechumenate before being baptized. I re-live this emotion every time someone is baptized at church on Sundays.

5. And now for a very futile trivia: in winter, I can't go out without a hat on. I just don't feel complete without a hat. As soon as the weather's cool enough to justify it, I wear one. Which is why I so love the two bérets I loom-knit last month. I promise, I will show them! Some day. ;)

Enough babbling about me!
Next article will be devoted to the embroidery rooms at the V&A. :)

I can't say that I'm an opera fan, however, I do have an appreciation for it because of some volunteer work I did as a teenager. I worked with a sweet little nun at the hospital microfilming records on Saturdays and we would listen to the radio broadcast from the Metropolitan in NY. Sister A. always had background info on the opera so we could better understand it. She was so sweet. :)

You should come and live here with me ... you'd love my neighbour downstairs - he plays opera full-bore during the day so it makes the floor vibrate ;) Unfortunately I'm not an opera fan, in fact it's one of the very few musical styles I really don't like at all ... but I do, however, adore a lot of classical music, especially Baroque - love it! Look forward to seeing more about the V&A :D

I wondered where your Pointy Kitty was! I trawled your album when you mentioned it - I'd love to see a picture some time if you get chance :)

I love Classical music too, including opera (hardly surprsing, since I did a music degree ;) ). I don't listen to it as much these days but I do find it relaxing to listen to in the evening. I have a real love of most things by Benjamin Britten, big choral works and violin concerti. Hmmm, maybe I'll put something classical on today now - thanks Isabelle!

I love the thought of you singing, Isabelle. You must do it more - think of it as another way to spread joy on earth. :)

Nice to think we have something else in common other than cats and stitching! We also listen to a lot of classical music, and our favorite orchestra is the JSO with Andre Rieu. Do you enjoy them?

It is nice to read more about you and lucky you being able to sing so well...if only...but I think I sound OK to myself ;-) I wear my hats all the time as well, I love hats!! You really should get back to some singing, it is a gift to be able to sing :-))

Hey, girlie, I found out through this post what we DON'T have in common. Heehee. 1(I don't like to listen to classical music except a few special pieces. It sounds to me like it will just never end. (I like Chopin best, tho!) 2) I do blog about all my sewing projects, since they amount to about 3 a year! 3)I have never taken voice lessons. Never had the nerve. 4) I look ridiculous in hats. I will only don one on a bitter cold day of show shoveling.

But this we have in common: love for baptism because of our love for Christ! What's more important than Him?????!!!!The best bond we have is found in Him!

I bet you look lovely with a hat as you do without it.
I love classical music as well. My dad used to love it so as a child we were sort of made to listen to it on rainy days when there was nothing for us to do. Those days there were not TVs or computers where I was and during the monsoon radio reception was terrible so dad used the opportunity to tell us that we should appreciate all kinds of music. Also he played the piano and would often practice late into the night. I use to love listening to the bell like tones when in bed.
So I like other music too. I don't like all of Opera though only a few selected pieces.
I deleted the previous comment as there were too many spelling mistakes in it.
