Tulip Kitty

Hi everyone. I hope this finds you well!
I'm still not an Auntie - the due date isn't before another week actually, but the doctors say that Robin really ought to come now, or else he'll be too big and my sister will probably have a C-section - which she doesn't want. Poor sis is getting very upset about it all (and that's putting it mildly).

A week ago, the SB&B I'd placed in early September thanks to a gift certificate Becky sent me for the Adopt a Stitcher program finally arrived... Thank you Becky! I got The Drawn Thread's Treasure Box (I predict 2007 will be very much a DT and Shepherd's Bush year for me... Bliss!), along with Brittercup's Britty Kitties V.
I'd been wishing for so long to get a Brittercup design, that I just had to start it straightaway.

This will sound ridiculous to most of you, but this kitty only just got finished. It took me a whole week to stitch this simple, quick design! That being said, with an average of half-an-hour's free time every night, it's not that bad after all...

The tulips are stitched with a French hand-dyed thread (by Marion) called Primevère.

This is probably due to overwork, and over-tiredness, but I can't figure a way to finish it. Maybe you friends will be more inspired? I'd love to hear your suggestions. This is to be a gift.

I worked all weekend, except for a couple of hours on Saturday night, when I managed to finish my Audrey Hepburn coat. We haven't been able to take pictures in daylight yet... So that'll had to wait. It turned out cute, IMHO!
By the way, 2 hours' free time is hardly enough for a weekend. And I hadn't managed to take any free time at all the previous weekend. Friends, I'm seriously close to losing it!

Which leads me to a painful decision I'm having to make... I need to unsubscribe temporarily from a number of blog feeds. Not that I've lost interest - not at all -, but this is just not realistic anymore given this semester's circumstances. I do hope to be able to re-subscribe in a few months. For now, I'll only be able to keep in touch with my closest friends. I am aware this is tough, and I am sorry if any of the people whose blog I'll have to unsubscribe from feels hurt. If so, please, feel free to email me.
Anyway, this is only temporary. Things should be better in a couple of months!

Take care everyone and thank you for the kind and lovely comments. (((Hugs))) to you all! And special (((hugs))) to those of you who need them.

I know how you feel, I felt the same this past summer, but I have stopped with a few things and now I feel the ideas coming again.
Tulip kitty looks great

Dear Isabelle, we will miss your postings but don't worry we will still be here when your life is a bit less hectic. I will be looking at your lovely creations as and when you post them. I love your Tulip Kitty. Yesterday I was browsing through some magazines in a shop. There were lots of lovely patterns for Christmas and I thought of you. Take care dear and don't work too hard.

Oooh your coat sounds fab, I love Audrey Hepburn style and am a big fan of hers :-) Your kitty is cut had you thought about finishing it into a flat-fold? Not that I have done one myself but maybe you have before? You got alot done with the time you had, my little case I've just finished took me over 2weeks to do, I am so slow because of not having much (if any) free time the days just wizz on by in my house ;-)
Hope all is well for your sister and the birth however Robin ends up arriving and you go take care of yourself!

Your cat turned out fantastic, love the tulips. :D

Hope your sister has her baby soon and that all goes as she hopes. I'm sure it will be wonderful when he arrives. :D

Great minds think alike - I was going to suggest a flat fold as well! It's a good shape for that kind of finishing and there's some easy-looking no-sew instructions available online here: http://institches.zap3x.com/mystitching/flatfold/flatfold.html

Please take care of yourself and don't worry about commenting or reading blogs at the moment. I'm sure we all understand and we'll still be here when you get chance to breathe again! Good luck to your sis, hope all goes well for her and little Robin. {{{{Hugs}}}

Your kitty looks great. I think it would make a really great pillow or maybe the front of a bag.

Take care of yourself. We'll all be here when you get back if you need a break.

I was going to suggest a flat fold too!! It's a nice shape for that cute kitty.

Lots of hugs to you and don't wory about not reading blogs. You need any spare time to pamper yourself by the sound of it. We know you'll be back when you're able. Don't feel pressured :)

Hope Robin arrives soon. I can understand how your sister might feel rushed into it but it sounds like the best option :)

I feel bad for you, friend, or for anyone who is inundated with work. It totally zaps a person's reserves. I will pray God gives you grace in terms of time. Often He has seemed to shorten the amount of time I thought something was going to take, or He has given me a different perspective, or just removed some of the load. Remember to take His yoke and learn from Him, and you will find rest for your soul.

As for the kitty stitchery, it's a great expression on that face! I'm sure you'll alight on a great idea when you've put it aside and rested your mind a while.
Love you and visit me in blogland when you can, but no pressure.

Your Britty Kitty turned out very cute, I hadn't seen that one before. The varigated floss you used for the tulips is lovely. How about finishing as a flatfold as previously suggested or a tuckpillow?

Hope everything goes well for your sister. Take care of yourself too, sometimes we just need some quiet time to ourselves to recharge.

Tulip Kitty is very sweet and I like the finishing into a flat-fold idea that others have mentioned!

Sounds like a good idea to cut back on your blogging until life gets a little easier to handle. There is just only so much time to go around and you must make yourself first priority.

I'll be thinking of you and your sister!

What a lovely kitty! Begging for hugs...
You're welcome with unsubscribing from my blog, Isabelle: it's absolutely normal! I just hope you can get some rest.
Lots of hugs!

Britty Kitty is lovely, the variagated thread is beautiful. How about a flanged pillow with buttons on the corners of your stitching.
Don't worry about blog reading. Everyone has their own personal favourites, I have about 10 that I must read and others I will occasionally drop in.
You take care of yourself, that's the most important thing of all. x

Your Britty Kitty is adorable! I don't have any finishing suggestions, but you're so clever and skilled I'm sure what you come up with will be fabulous! I read a lot of entries, but I can't possibly comment on every blog everytime. I think people understand that! I hope you're time becomes your own soon!

Stitching and blogging should be fun, and if you're too busy to enjoy it, there's nothing else to it than to take it easy. You're perfectly right! I hope you will be able to catch your breath soon.
Any sign of a baby yet?

Congratulations on your finish Isabelle. So ideas...depending how large it is...sewing it on a bath towel, a napkin, a kitchen towel, a t-shirt or making a cushion, pinkeep, needlebook, book cover, hanger, .... Ann.

That kitty design is really sweet! And who cares how long it did or did not take, the important thing is that you enjoyed it. :)

BTW, I keep meaning to ask you about the Brittercup kitty and puppy freebies that you stitched a little while back. I really like them (especially the pup). Do you know how/where I might be able to get them?

Aww Isabelle, I hope you manage to get more time to yourself soon. Working so much is going to make you ill!

I love that kitty :o)

I am right there with you on not being able to keep up with all the blog reading and commenting lately. It is better to stay sane though and let go of those obligations that you can. Big hugs!!

2 hours is definitely not enough "me" time over an entire weekend. Take care of yourself Isabelle. With the holiday season coming, I think everyone is struggling with blog reading.

I was just catching up on your blog, and can honestly echo your sentiments with blog reading ... you need to make yourself priority #1, and if that means not dropping by on some blogs, so be it - we'll all be here for you when you need us :D Sometimes it feels really stressful just seeing all those unread feeds - and finding time to read all of them is a rarity :(

No worries Isabelle. I'm having trouble keeping up lately too. It's just a busy time of year. Take care.
