Conference week

Hello everyone :)
Cari was my recipient in the needleroll exchange, and I heard yesterday that she has received it already. Now for Aniza to receive her second friendship exchange and I'll be able to breathe a deep sigh of relief.

Since Cari is fond of French designers and purple, I decided to stitch her the pique-aiguille Petit jardin ("little garden needleroll") by Au fil des Rêves, using a Silkweaver fabric called Lavender Swirl.

It was stitched with Au ver à soie silks; the little watering can charm was included with the chart.
I shamelessly copied Christine's idea of hemming the needleroll with crochet lace.

I also finished my blox-pleated skirt a week ago, but Seb could only take a picture yesterday.

Yes, Violette is a big cat and I'm a small lady ;)

It is made of cotton satin - this was the first time I used such fabric. It has a nice body to it for a skirt or trousers, and a lovely texture. Here's a close-up of the skirt so you can see the line and pleats better:

That's all, friends. I don't think you'll be hearing from me until next week... I'm leaving for my conference in Birmingham on Wednesday. Please keep your fingers crossed for me on Friday morning - that's when I'll be talking. Thank goodness Karen lives so close to Birmingham - she has really helped me with the hotels and everything; above all, the thought of having a kind friend not far away from this big, totally unknown city, is a huge comfort. So is the prospect of meeting her on Saturday morning, when the conference is over. Thanks Karen!
I'm both scared and very excited...
See you all next week!

I'm sure that the beautiful, petite French gal with the classy clothing is going to be a huge hit at the conference! ;) I'll try to thinking of you on Friday morning, unless I'm sleeping. You won't need luck, though, you'll do great!

I'm glad that Karen was able to help you with your reservations and local information. I hope that one of you remembers to take pictures when you meet!

Beautiful work on the needleroll and especially that skirt. :) *hug*

How about I fold my hands instead of cross my fingers? I find it much more effective. You know what I mean, don't you, sister? I have no doubt the Lord will give you peace and clarity of mind and speech. What a gift you have for communicating in every form!
Love the skirt and the purple needleroll hemmed in lace!!!

Hi Isabelle,

Thanks for your comment on my blog - I'm really enjoying yours. What a talented person you are! In answer to your question about my name, I'm sorry to confess that I'm not a true Isabelle - or at least, I am, but it's one of my middle names. My two grandmothers were both called Isabella, but my parents thought this was a bit old-fashioned (though it's now very fashionable again) so they removed the "a" and replaced it with an "e". It's just pronounced like Isabel, I fear - the final "e" is silent. I don't like my first name much so I feel more like an Isabelle! I use it for blogging just in case any of my students should come across my blog - not that I think this is very likely.

Hope your conference went well!

Now you must rest up and then tell us all about it. Look forward to hearing. Did I tell you, you have a beautiful family.
