This and that

Hello friends,
Sorry for the lack of update lately. This is the end of the year for my students (but not for me... my students' holidays will only mean I can focus better on my own work! ) and I've been busy getting the final exams ready for next Monday, on top of the usual classes to prepare, and my own research of course. I haven't touched a needle this whole weekend, and I really missed it. Sometimes I do feel addicted to my needle and thread - I feel so less serene if I haven't had a chance to stitch or sew for more than a day...

I did finish the back of my Couleurs Croisées sewing case last week, with my initial:

Here are the back and the front of the case:

I started stitching the inside accessories yesterday evening (but not enough to justify a picture, I'm afraid).

I also received a package from dear sweet Jenna yesterday...

Fascinating marbled, mottled and metallics fabrics; a long linen band that shall be lovely to make lavender sachets (as I was thinking only last week!); some of Jenna's and her DH's favourite teas; and an adorable kitty fob chart, with the cutest cat button imaginable. Everything is so well thought of! Thank you so much my friend... You are so special and you really made my week.

To make up for the lack of stitching/sewing pics, I'm showing you a pair of chocolate milleraies pants that I sewed up several months ago... I made them with autumn and winter in mind, but Seb never got around to taking pictures until this evening (he was too busy, or forgot, or just wasn't in the mood ); but I put on my sweetest smile tonight and asked him again - and he said yes straight away! Since we're enjoying a bit of sun for once... it was the perfect occasion.

It was the first time I made pants and I really like those. I used a scrap from a fabric I used for Katrina kits to add my own personal touch - a yoke - as the pants were a bit too low-rise for my taste. The trousers have a side zipper.

And since we never grab the camera without photographing Violette...

Here is my sweet love!

Hope you're all having a good week!

Love the pants! It looks great on you!

Your Couleurs Croisees is turning out real nicely. I love all the pink and green colors. I can't wait to see it finish.

You are so welcome, my sweet friend! I'm glad that my package arrived on a day when it could really bring a smile to your face. Packages seem to have a nice way of showing up at just the right time. :)
I really hope that you'll stitch the kitty fob in Violette's colors. I realize that the chart calls for an overdyed floss. Let me know if you don't have it because I will have PLENTY left over when I finish stitching my start for my Round Robin piece in a couple of weeks. I'd be more than happy to send it on to you if you can verify the color name and number for me.
I think you can probably tease the wire out of the banding if you don't need the extra stiffness. I've received some of the banding with and without the wire, so I don't know exactly what purpose it is meant to serve.
Those pants look fabulous on you! They would have been far too low-rise for me to dare to wear, personally, without the yoke and it adds a very eye-catching bit of detail to the pants.
Have a wonderful week, my friend!

Your sewing case looks lovely, beautiful colors.

And I agree with the others that those pants are wonderful! They look great on you, the yoke is a clever addition that makes them stand out.

Violette looks lovely as always. Such a cutie! :D

Good luck with those tests.

YOu never cease to amaze me with your sewing abilities (and all your others). I like the pants and am so glad there are modest girls out there like you who refuse to wear the low-rise stuff that stumbles Christian brothers. I don't recognize the Katrina Kit scrap, however, even when I zoom in. Help me out. Did you use it for a bag you sent me? Your sewing case is gorgeous. Do you use all that you make, or transfer the notions from one to another like one does a purse (on a whim)?
Love you.

Where to begin....the sewing case is so pretty. I just love those colors; I can't get over them.

Violette, as always, is a beauty and your pants are really great! I really like the yoke you added. You are so pretty and that is just the sweetest picture of you and your sweet love. :) I didn't realize your hair was quite that long. It's very, very pretty and really suits you!

I've enjoyed the look into your life as I always do. The pictures are wonderful. I just got a pretty cat calendar this afternoon and it has the lovliest quotes and sayings about the joy of having a cat or kitten. I'll have to enjoy 'my' cat through the calendar pages I'm afraid...hubby doth object to the real thing..smile. I love him anyway! Your stitching is gorgeous as well as your gifts. I know what you mean about stitching being serene and has a sense of well-being attached to doing it. I have been tatting and there is something so tranquil about doing the tatting and the beautiful results are so rewarding. I don't know how you get so much done with your work and all but I admire everything..smile. Hope your week is just what you want it to be! Leaving you with a quote from my calander..."No two kittens have the same pawprint. Each one makes its own mark in your heart."

Hi Isabelle!
I've spend a delightful time catching up with all your blog entries that have been piling up. What glorious birthday gifts you received from all over the world. :) All your stitching and sewing projects have so impressed me. I hope this busy time passes soon, so you can spend more time with your needles - whether in your hand or in the machine. :D

Isabelle, your bird sampler is sooo beautiful, and the colors are so like you. I absolutely LOVE your new pants. The yoke really adds something to the pants, and I wish I had the hips like yours that I used to have, lol! I used to make all my clothes and both my girls' clothes.
