A pochette to wait for Spring

Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on yesterday's entries. I'm glad you think the bag is pretty, it certainly sets my mind at rest.

I also completed the Couleurs Croisées "pochette à petits ouvrages" this weekend.

This pochette should be very handy for small to medium projects, especially when I travel to Northern France. I'm glad it's all done and ready to use! It always seemed like a faraway finish, and I didn't think I'd have it done by the end of the weekend. I must confess I did take shortcuts though, and I sewed it all by machine.
I would like to keep the sewing instructions as I really like that pattern and will probably want to reuse it in the future; but if anyone among you wants the Marquoir aux Oiseaux chart (which is stitched on the front of the case), you are welcome to it.

Watching these light, floral colours, I realize this pochette might well have been an unconscious attempt to make up for the defective Spring we're been having in Paris so far this year. Each day is feeling more and more like November instead of like May... Can it really be that June is upon us? What if June is just as dreary and cold?
Mmmm... Do you think Summer would come faster if I started sewing light dresses and skirts?

Niek's been trying to force the weather here by wearing shorts & T-shirts on his days off. It hasn't worked yet...

Your project case is just lovely. You'll get so much enjoyment from it! :-)

Isabelle,

Your Pochette is beautiful! What floss did you use to stitch it? I love the color.

Congratulations on your finish Isabelle, it's really pretty! I have this chart and although I won't stitch it "as is", the finishing instructions have already proved very helpful.

The weather here is *finally* warming up and it's set to continue for at least a few days - about time too, I say!

Thanks for letting me know about the Lavender Rose sewing case - I'll be in touch very soon to chat about our SAL :)

Hello Isabelle, Your stitching project is a delight to behold...=) Very delicate and feminine. I like the rings that hold the floss for you. Such a pretty thing and will be a joy to use.~~So your weather is on the cool side? Surely it will warm up before you know it.~~ My Vivaldi is coming along beautifully. Three weeks ago when I was given this piece, I was so discouraged and thought it too difficult for me. The LORD has blessed more than I deserve...=). I'm enjoying it and am now concentrating on learning the tenor clef...oh my, the concentration that takes. I am taking baby steps on that but its coming...Wishing you a beautiful day tomorrow!

I just have to ask....is there a backing piece in it to stiffen the pochette? Any wadding or batting, or its meant to be flimsily soft?

Congratulations as from the pictures it tells you have finished it beautifully and looks professional. :)

Dear Isabelle,
Your pochette is another winner! It certainly did brighten my day when I saw it. It is dull and grey here, nothing new. It was supposed to be 20 degrees according to the forcast but feels like 16!
Have a good day

Wow, even more beautiful stitching. Great work Isabelle. I love reading your Blog:)

So all the embroidery was done by machine? If so, I don't feel like such a slacker! It's gorgeous, like everything you put your hands to.

Isabelle said...

Oh... Zoanna, I was only talking of the assembling part: the embroidery was done by hand and took me a few weeks. But the actual making of the case (sewing the stitched parts together) took me a few hours on Sunday. The instructions recommended to sew it all by hand, but I didn't see the point.

Your pochette is gorgeous Isabelle, congratulations

I love this!!! The colors are lovely. I have never tried to stitch and finish something so complicated looking. Maybe someday!

If you get a decent June can you send it over the Channel please, 1st June and it is dark, cold and grey and I swear its the middle of winter..

Yes, I was right in thinking all along that you had done the embroidery all by hand. But I've been known to miss a few pertinent details in my life. I'm sure I gave you a whopping big offense when I mentioned machine piecing this! Heehee and sorry, I don't know what to say!

You did an amazing job finishing this piece, Isabelle. Its very inspiring!!

Zoanna said...

Regarding my comment just above Wendy's, I meant "machine embroidering" not "piecing. I told you I miss pertinent details!

The bag you made is so gorgeous! I can see why your sister wanted it for herself.

And how lovely of Shashi to gift you with such beautiful dolls. What a real treat! :D

It's gorgeous! I love it.

Hey, if I sent you some of our 92-degree heat followed by a tad of warm rain, would you send me one of those purses? (You could send the sun back inside the purse and keep the rain).

Heather said...

Isabelle that is amazing. I wish I could make things like that.
I agree about the weather. It felt like Siberia when we returned from holiday, but the last couple of days have been lovely.

Happy Saturday evening to you. Hope you have a pleasant Sunday. I imagine you serenely stitching away, with your loving kitty curled nearby, purring her happiness. Psalm 5:19

WOW! That's just the kind of project I need. I don't know how/where to store my stitching accessoires, that would be perfect. What are the chances that my needle shop carries a similar pattern? ;)
