I received lovely things in the mail today. First, I got the Needlepaints for Celtic Summer, and they're gorgeous!
And I finally got hold of this freestyle embroidery magazine, the Mains et Merveilles special issue, which I've been wishing for ever since it was out and I saw it on French blogs - but which was so difficult to find! (Paradoxically, crafty magazines are always much more difficult to find in Paris than in the rest of France - this is because shops are smaller here and therefore have less in stock).

I also received the fabric I thought would be nice for Celtic Summer - Silkweaver's Abracadabra Lugana. But it turns out this is not what I expected... I don't know whether it is due to my laptop monitor - but the picture on the Silkweaver website (scroll down to the middle) definitely appears blue to me. Instead, I got a mauve/lilac fabric.
It's a lovely fabbie really, but definitely not what I had in mind for Celtic Summer. And definitely not in keeping with the blues of our bedroom, which is where I plan to hang the piece.
Any thoughts on this? Maybe one of you would like to trade it for a bluer fabric? It's a 18x26 28-ct Lugana.
Oh, I have to share this! While I was typing this, Seb came in from work, and I told him about my fabric woes. He said, "Just buy another one! I'm sure you'll find a use for this pretty mauve later."
My man encourages me to spend more on stash?! Now what do you think of that?

Anyway, your thoughts would be more than welcome on the subject!
Here is my progress on Drawn Thread's Summer into Autumn :

What a fun stitch, and those silks are wonderful! I'm enjoying every minute of it. Thanks and (((hugs))) to you, Karen!

Your fabric does look mauve rather than the blue indicated on the Silkweaver site. Perhaps they sent you the wrong colour.
Why not send them an e-mail and have them look on your web-site to see the color of the fabric you received. I'm sure they'll see their error, send you the color you ordered and let you keep this for your trouble.
S's answer to your problem is exactly the one I could expect from my husband. Aren't we lucky!!!
You can send it back to Silkweaver - they're really good about it - though you may run into serious delays with their re-location. What sort of blue, and what size, are you looking for? I have some blue-greens and blue-grays.
Your Seb sounds like a treasure!
Good for Seb! I *think* DH would probably say that to me, or at least, he wouldn't mind if I suggested it ;)
Great progress on Summer into Autumn, it's looking beautiful!
I'm not going to start the Lavender Rose Sewing Case right away, BTW, since I've got several other things lined up to do first. So if you do get it, maybe we can SAL at some later date? It really is a gorgeous design.
LOL About Seb's comment, how sweet of him. Greg would've said "What a shame you can't use that fabric. I guess I'll *have* to take it for myself." ;)
I agree it is hard sometimes to tell the "exact" color on screen, but I'm sure you will find an even more beautiful piece. :D
Your project looks great! And the other projects you've shown lately are wonderful as well!
Hi Isabelle, your Summer into Autumn looks lovely so far. after I finish Spot of Spring, my current DT project, its my next DT start too :)
Love your DT piece...the colors are beautiful.
Sorry you were disappointed with your color. On my screen it looks mauve/lavendar, so you know I love it. Therefore my solution to your problem is to make something for me with it! lol! It will definitely coordinate with the decor in MY bedroom! :)-
Sorry to tell you this but...I get a mottled purpleish colour for lugana and a more violet shade for linen on my monitor. Went looking in my stash. I have a small bit of Abracadabra reflections, it is a type of mottled purples. It could maybe the monitor you have.
As for Seb's comment.... Can you spare him for a year or two? DH usually grumbles when I tell him I'm buying more fabric. The grumbling isn't as loud as it gets when new charts find thier way into the apartment. Now floss he'll let me buy with little to no grumbling. The grumbling usually starts when he sees the price of some of the "specialty flosses" ie not DMC.
You are off to a great start on Summer into Autumn - I have this one in my stash waiting to be stitched (it may be awhile). I'll enjoy watching your progress on yours!
That would be perfect for Celtic Spring. I know, I know....enabler. hehe
Hi Isabelle
It looks a pinkish purple on my monitor and not too unlike the scan you've taken of yours.
Hope you are well.
Your Seb sounds wonderful. The colour on my monitor is a hazy lavender not really blues with pinkish trails through it, Its a lovely colour, save it and use it for something else and do as Seb says and get another piece.
DT - is looking nice too.
Your Summer into Autumn is lovely!
I think it's your laptop monitor, Isabelle. I've found that the colors on my desktop monitor are always truer to reality than what I see on my laptop. I'm sorry it didn't quite work for you, but you know that Silkweaver will take the fabric back for exactly that reason?
I agree with Seb, it's a beautiful fabric, so keep it and order another once Silkweaver gets moved. :) What kind of color are you looking for? I'm sure we can help you find what you want.
Would you like to try Sikweaver Blue Dynasty cashel for Celtic Summer? I would be happy to trade :-)
I check Silkweaver site...the colour appears purplish to me unless you picked Oceantide as that is bluey to me.
I'm sure like Seb said...get another one...hehe... A treasure!!
