I am so excited that Spring is finally here! Spring is my favourite season, and I wished to mark the occasion with a full blog revamp. I do hope you like my Spring cleaning! I've also decided to change the name to Kitty Couture - I wanted something sweet, something cute, something fresh. I know this doesn't reflect my stitching, which is why I mention it in my sub-title. (I'll leave the blog name as "Keeping one's world in Stitches" for a week, so you won't be lost in your feed readers...)
I'd started toying with those colours and a new title in February actually, but was waiting till Spring to put my ideas to fruition.
Please, do tell me what you think!
I had barely any time to stitch or sew this weekend... On Saturday morning, Seb and I did some intense Spring cleaning; then my older sister came over as she'd had a meeting in Paris in the morning (my older sister lives in Lille, like my parents). When she left to take her train back home I went to the demonstration. I'm afraid the media abroad might be giving the idea that those demonstrations are "riots" like last November, but they have nothing in common. Demonstrating does not mean being violent. It is part of our culture to try and express what we want - or in that case, don't want - to the government when they don't listen to the people. Now I certainly don't want to write about politics on my blog - this is not the place for it. I just wanted to say that Seb and I had a lovely time walking hand in hand through a beautifully sunny Paris, among other peaceful and friendly people.
Then on Sunday morning I met Annemiek!! We'd agreed to meet at 8 am so we could have a full hour to chat before heading to the craft show. You're gonna laugh at this, but it was the first time I ever had breakfast outside in Paris! And I believe it was the first time in ten years that I had a croissant. Please don't stone me for being in the capital of croissants and never getting to enjoy them!
I think Annemiek would agree that we hit it off straight away! We chatted away all morning.
Annemiek had actually come along with her parents to order new items for her shop. The craft show was for professionals only, but Annemiek had managed to get me a pass; she laughed saying that she could say I was their interpreter anyway! Actually, this is precisely what happened - and I delighted in playing that role. It was also hugely interesting to see the "other side" of the stitching business. And of course, I revelled in seeing the designs, threads and fabrics up close. There was actually the annual Parisian stitching show last week, and I hadn't been able to go, since I was spending every waking second slaving away on my presentation. However, Annemiek's invitation made up for it!
I had to leave at 12.30 since I still had to prepare my classes for today. I went home utterly enchantée with our morning together. Annemiek and I have realized we have more common points than we had even thought - not least is our common love for English, and for talking in English. We were truly on the same wavelength. Annemiek's parents were delightful, and even though we did not get to interact that much due to the language barrier, we sure got along very well! As Annemiek remarked, we really have to thank Becky for pairing us up so well in the Adopt-a-Stitcher exchange!
And I really want to thank Annemiek for that wonderful time together, and for inviting me to the show! Annemiek, it'll be even more fun to spoil you now
.
Annemiek did spoil me with a bag of goodies, by the way! I'll share a pictue in another post, along with a picture of us
To make up for the lengthy, wordy post, I am leaving you with a picture of the Petal Fairy - I've been working on the flowers at the top...

Don't apologise for the "wordy" post; it's nice reading about a slice of your life!
Dear Isabelle,
What a pleasant surprise! This morning when I checked it was pink and now everything is blue and very pleasing to the eye too. So glad to know that you had a great weekend with Seb and the Annemiek.
It made me wish that I could have gone to the show too.
I have to wait for ours in October.
Thanks for dropping by in my blog. You don't have to feel bad for posting late as I know you have been having a plate full of things to do.
I love your fairy too. She is growing beautifully.
It's minus the yellow from the 1st time I landed on your blog. But it's equally cheerful. :)

Your Petal Fairy is turning out really nice.
Isabelle, I love the new look for your blog. And I really enjoyed hearing about your outing with Annemiek. I recently met her at the craft fair in Zwolle and thought she was great. Your behind-the-scenes look must've been fascinating!
I love your new look Isabelle, it's really fresh and pretty!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time with Annemiek the other day - I'm glad you enjoyed yourself :)
Petal Fairy is looking lovely too!
I love the new look! Petl fairy is looking great. :)
Love the new look :)
It must be the time for revamping blogs :) I just did mine..heehehe. Although it has taken me two days to get the stupid thing how I want it..but voila!! It is perfect now I think (I hope!)
*Hugs*
Your blog is lovely and I'm glad for you that you had such a special time with your friend. The world is full of treasure for us to enjoy, isn't it! Your petal fairy is a work of art! Philippians 4:20 "Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever". I'm so thankful for all the good things in life..I don't know why but the book 'Anne of Green Gables' just comes to mind. Such a gem. I regret that I have not read this charmer more often in my lifetime. Good for you, getting your spring cleaning done...smile. Our furnace and wood-burner are still working to keep us cozy, so I'll wait untill the dust (just kidding alittle) settles. Sending you a hug dear Isabelle. Our lives must be so very different...mine quietly out of the main stream of life...and you at the forefront, teaching and giving of your gifted mind and talents. Its an interesting thought to ponder, isn't it! Yet we both marvell at the beauties of God, the same sun in all its bright beauty, and the same awe-inspiring moon and all nature that speaks of Him who made us all. It blesses me to think of God...and of friendships far and near. Life is a gift...a treaure to enjoy and sometimes to endure. Psalm 52:1 "....The goodness of God endureth continually." Forgive me for rambling on! Hoping you have a peach of a day!
i love your new look!! I will update the name when I make a new post to my blog next :)
Your new look is cute!! I love it very much!!! PErfect for spring!!! And I'm happy for your nice meeting with Annemiek!!!It's interesting to read about Paris demostration from a different point of view Italian media speak only of violence!!
cheers
I love the new look of your blog it's really fresh.
Thank you for sharing with us your weekend, I could smell the croissants.... hummm, delicious.
The Petal Fairy is really cute.
hugs
Your blog looks great. Now to remember to change the name :)
Petal fairy is stunning.
Hi Isabelle,
your petal fairy is really coming to life now. she's very springlike too.
your blog looks less cosy, but really fresh and that fits the spring.
it's great to read about you meeting Annemiek. it must have been a great meeting.
we hear about the demonstrations in France, not as riots, but as a protest against the new laws.
good luck
Love the new blog color and clip art. It's very "you"!
IF demonstrations are peaceful overseas, they don't usually make the news here in the States. Our media thrives on sensationalism, not truth. I would love to watch a half hour broadcast just ONE time that features all the good things happening in the world, big and small. Wouldn't that be a change?
Croissants. I can't say the word without having flashbacks. One summer I had a job at the American Pie in Rehoboth Beach. Had to get up at 4 am and clack frozen croissants together and then bake them for the morning breakfast customers. Hated the smell of yeast for 7 years after that. Now I love croissants with strawberry preserves. Mmm.
Glad to hear of your nice meeting w/ Annemiek and her folks. Please post more about your experience in the professional crafter/stitcher's world that day.
Petal Fairy flowers are delicate and beautiful. You have way more patience than I would for such a project. You go, girl.
Sorry for the long comment. I can be a windbag, huh?
I LOVE your new design! So fresh and light! It really reflects your personality. :D
Loved the story about you and Annemiek, sounds like you have loads of fun. I agree that it would be fantastic to see behind the scenes into the designers world. :D
Petal Fairy is looking wonderful! Hope you are having a great week!
The new blog looks great and the name is Purrfect!!! So nice to read how you had a wonderful day with Annemiek and her family. Your blog screams SPRING and I love it!!!! Big Hugs!!!!!
Sounds like you had a wonderful day out with Annemiek and her parents - isn't it wonderful when you really 'click' with someone new? :D And I can't believe you don't eat out in that beautiful city of yours - Paris is my favourite city in the whole world to date ... my best memories are just wandering up the banks of the Seine and meandering through little side streets without a care in the world - and your Metro system is awesome! :D
The petal Fairy looks beautiful! And I like the new look of your blog! Very nice!
~Lana~
I agree with everyone else, Isabelle - your new look blog is lovely! And easier to read - not as "busy" as the previous format.
