Hello friends!
Sorry for not posting earlier... I just didn't manage to find enough time to post. And yet, I finished the Angel of Sleep almost a week ago!

The braids were such a hoot to make - you braid the floss like real hair, really! I chose to make them very long... 'cause I love long hair, and that's the way I like to wear mine
(every time I've cut it significantly shorter, I've regretted it!).
I really love that piece! And I have to confess I'm happy with my colour choices. I used Anchor multicolour threads (#1304 for the moon and stars; #1349, which I'm very fond of, for the nightdress sleeves, the book, and the wording; #1302 for the wings) ; and Gentle Art Sampler Threads for the nightdress (Sugarplum), the cheeks and the "sac à bisous", i.e. bag of kisses (Hibiscus).
Following your advice, I added a smile to her face... Several of you remarked that she seemed worried, and I thought you were right! An Angel of Sleep definitely can't look anguished now, can she?
All I need now is to find a pretty frame for her, and hang her above the bed. I would have fancied finishing it into a wallhanging, but since the fabric and some of the threads are dyed, I won't take the risk of washing the project - so I don't want it to gather dust.
I started my Spring Exchange for the SBEBB yesterday evening. All I can say is that it'll be 100% French!
I know exactly how I want to finish it and what to include in the package... Spring is so inspiring.
I also finished a piece for an Easter exchange on my French Yahoo sewing group - but I can't share a picture, even on my English blog. Since the recipient doesn't read English, though, I can at least tell you what I made! This is a sewing exchange, but I know that my partner enjoys stitching too, so I stitched the Spring bluebird freebie by Waxing Moon designs, and added it to the front of a little bag I made using one of the fabrics that dear Becky sent me (the fresh green fabric, second from the left in the picture).

She looks definitely happy with her sweet smile and long hair... Any identification?
Lots of hugs, and thanks for the link to Sylvie's blog (I haven't been able to reach it yet).
How lovely! She looks beautiful!
The angel of sleep looks very happy and you did a great job with the color changes. Congrats on the finish as well :-D
The Angel of Sleep came out lovely Isabelle! I hope now that she is finished that she will help you to sleep better :-)
I love your new finish! She's such a cutie
Dear Isabelle,
What a lovely angel you have created. Yes the smile and the long braids certainly do something special for her. Not surprising that you want her over your bed and I hope as Carol says she will help you sleep better.
A lovely finish, dear friend :)
Congratulations :)
((((((((Isabelle)))))))
Congrats on the finish! She turned out so cute, love the long braids and happy smile. I hope she brings you many nights of blissful sleep! :D
Your angel looks lovely! I much prefer her to the original photo :) What a lovely smile she has!
Hello Isabelle - I am finally back! Hooray! Thanks for your support during a difficult time. I'm very glad to finally have a replacement computer and I hope to soon be all caught up again.
Your angel of sleep is lovely. She looks so happy and carefree - perfectly right for a nightful of good dreams.
I love your other projects, too - the heart for Karen and Valentine's pillow for Becky are just lovely!
Hey Isabelle, I've visited your blog a few times before, and finally decided to leave a word, after hopping off my chair with excitement after having seen your angel of sleep. It's lovely, and very French! I also love your heart for Karen.
Hi Isabelle,
you did a great finishing job on the angel (details). you're very right about putting a smile on her face. I still hope she'll make you sleep better.
her hair looks great and I think it's an angel every child (or grown up ;)) deserves to have hang near their bed.
thanks for reminding me of the waxing moon freebies. I saved them at the computer, I love seasonal designs.
WOW! It's lovely. Congrats on the finish.
Your Angel looks much more angelic since you put that smile on her! Very very cute. :D
Sorry for the deleted post...blogger was being mean:( Your angel looks so wonderful. The colors are perfect and I love her braids:)
Angel of sleep is adorable! I like her smile. Wish I could grow my hair that long again. May the angel of sleep sprinkle sweet dream dust over you while you sleep!
hugs
She's beautiful, Isabelle! You truly made her your own, and I love that. Those braids are so adorable! Congratulations on the finish, my friend. :)
Happy Dance for you Isabelle - yahoo!
Your Angel is lovely!!!
Fantastique!=)
Elisabeth=)
Glad to see you posting again Isabelle :)
Your Ange du Sommeil is great - very cute! I love your colour choices :)
What a lovely finish. It is an adorable piece and the braids are so cute!
I love it Isabelle, well done.
She is a beauty. Love the rosy cheeks and long braids. I can't get the picture to enlarge enough to see what is written on her red bag, though? ANd is there anything written on her book? Will you name her, or just call her Angel of Sleep?
I love your Angel is beautiful!!! She sounds like something I need. If I manage 3 hours of sleep a nite then I'm lucky. I Have tried every medication out there but alas nothing has helped. It does run in my family, being that my older brother Matthew has the same problem.
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book. I have read it at least 100 times over the years. Jane Austin is also my favorite author. She was well ahead of her time. The new version of the movie was a disapointment but like you said you have to see it for yourself. The words did flow just like out of the novel but I'm afraid I love Mr. Darcy as played by Colin Firth. This new Mr. Darcy is dashing and lovely to look at but I feel he's a Mr. Darcy in training. LOL
She is very pretty. The way the hair is done is very beautiful en well thought off too. Once she's above your bed, she will gently guide you too a restful and peaceful night ;-) Ann.
oh Angel of Sleep is lovely. well done Isabelle.
Dear Isabelle, your Angel of Sleep is adorable. You make such fun things! You've got me smiling!
Woohoo, you managed to finish L'ange du Sommeil already - she's really lovely ... and the thread and fabric choices are really fitting ... way to go! :D
Hi Isabelle! Congratulations on your new finish! You did a great job with your thread conversions. I'll look forward to seeing pictures of it framed and of the other 'mystery' projects you are working on.
