This has been a tough day... Mostly because Violette apparently sat in the printer tray while I was away at my parents' this weekend... So that, when I wanted to print out my documents this morning for today's classes, it proved impossible.
No matter what I tried, the wheels guiding the paper were jammed, and I had to phone Seb so he could print the documents at his lab and then I had to rush there before my lessons started (at the other end of Paris of course!). Big stress and big waste of time!
But the classes went well after all this mess, and when I came home two huge surprises were waiting for me. First, my dear friend Zonna finally received our first batch of bags for the Katrina victims! Woohoo! What a huge relief. I mailed them on October 7th and finally had to make a formal complaint at the PO. I guess this sped up the process. Thank God they are now safe in Maryland; and after Zoanna finds enough sponsors to fill them with toiletries, they will get to Texas, where they are still needed! Thank God they found their way to your door, Zoanna.

The other surprise was a package from Rosa in Iceland - my Christmas Ornament Exchange! Seb kindly went to fetch it at the PO - he was very excited to see a package from Iceland, since he went hiking there a year ago (now wait, that's two years ago now...) and loved it - he had even started to learn Icelandic!
I had been admiring Rosa's work on her blog, and let me tell you her stitching is truly delicate! Her ornament will have a place of choice in my home for Christmas. Now I really want to start decorating for Christmas!
As you can see, Rosa didn't stop at the ornament! She sent me this chart from Summer Truswell because she'd seen Carol had sent me the Princess of May and I liked it. I really like the design, the lady looks strikingly like my elder sister and I'm planning to stitch it for her some day! I like those Princesses from S. Truswell. Very pretty and yet not as daunting as Mirabilias or Lavender & Lace designs... So I have a better chance of fitting them into my schedule some day.

And look at those charms...
Here's a close up on the ornament, which is truly beautiful! I love how you stitched the back too, Rosa! Thank you for everything!
So that was a wonderful mail day - outbound and inbound.
Talking of posting services... Thank you everyone so much for your comments about my little gift to my mailman. You were all so right! He knocked at the door last Friday (the day after I gave him the jam), even if he didn't have any parcel to deliver. He was so moved that he had tears in his eyes! It was a very emotional moment... He did like jam then
. Seriously, I am so happy that I overcame my shyness. He looks like a very sensitive person and I don't think my gift couldn't have pleased anyone better!

What a super-duper mail day you've enjoyed! Love your Icelandic goodies ... fun and beautiful!
I have enjoyed seeing into your world of beautiful stitchery, seeing what your friends send you and what you make. Its all very special. I am sure your mailman appreciated your gift more than you know. It will undoubtedly cheer him to think of it sitting on his kitchen table or perhaps placed under the Christmas tree as he goes on with the neverending duties of his job. Someone I love is a mailman and I know this is true. I've spent my day cross-stitiching and feel very satified with all I've gotten done. A very good day I've had. Blessings to you and yours!
Glad your postman appreciated it ... see, we all knew he would! :) Your ornie exchange is just lovely ... Rosa did a fantastic job! And what a lovely bundle of goodies that came with it :))
Lovely goodies and beautiful stitching from Rosa. You are forever kind to give the jam to the mailman. It's a little thing that touches his heart. :)
It is a lovely piece Isabelle and I'm glad your postman was pleased with his jam. Those random acts of kindness have a huge impact. You are truly a sweetheart!

What a wonderful mail day. Rosa did a fantastic job! Wow! I just love it!
That's how it's supposed to be: people sharing nice things with each other. You're so glad with what you got and the mailman is glad too. That's how it works...
:D
Wooo hooo they are absolutely beautiful Isabelle!!
What beautiful gifts! It sounds like your post man was very moved. You're a sweet girl to think of him. :)
Good for you for all things I read here: the printed papers in time, your parcel and the reaction of the mailman. It's beautiful to read that this gift had such a effect. Ann.
Wonderful mail day for me, too! Those 40 bags are gorgeous! Some from you, some from Doris, and some from Denise. And some already have sponsors! If anyone reading here would like to sponsor some Katrina kits, they are only $5 USD each. You can fund them w/ Paypal most easily (zubs@comcast.net). I am having a blast filling them with toiletries. I'm even tucking in an extra treat--Avon lip balm for every girl and woman. Thanks, Isabelle, for being such a sweet and efficient liaison between America and other continents! This project wouldn't fly without you. Your friends have become MY friends! God bless you today, too.
I'm so glad the postman appreciated his gift! Rosa stitched you a beautiful ornament - I'm sure you'll enjoy it and the goodies she sent you :) Enjoy the rest of your week, Isabelle!
What a lovely, delicate ornament Rosa made for you. And such a thoughtful batch of extra goodies to sweeten the package even more! You deserve it, dear lady!
