Making Birthday gifts

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday, and tomorrow will be my little sister's. We'll celebrate both birthdays this weekend. It was high time I got started on their gifts!

For a start, I stitched a little Popcorn bear for my sister, on pale pink Aida:

It has been a tradition for more than a decade that at each of her birthdays I stitch a little design for her with her name and age under it. All the others but 2 were destroyed when our house burned 3 years ago (the fire started from her room so she lost everything). But... this is a good reason to make her lots of gifts every year!

I'm making her a purse as well, and will probably also make a wallhanging similar to the one I made for Seb (she saw it when she visited last July, and loved it). I just hope I'll have enough time to make it before Saturday. I'd like all my gifts to be handmade.

However what I've been most busy with in my spare time is the gift to my father. I'm making him a quilt involving lots of applique, which I had never tried before. It is a lot of work but so far I like how it is turning out. And I hope Dad will like it too.

Pictures of that and of the purse... Later!

What a lovely, thoughtful birthday tradition.

So pleased you like the rabbits - thanks for your comment. Yes, the house is starting to be slightly over-populated with strange creatures.
