First, happy 4th of July to all of you American friends!

My sister came over from Northern France to spend the weekend with us. Since my parents are spending 10 days in Paris too for their work, we also had them as much as possible at our place. Lots of tidying up and cooking and dish-washing and so on, but hey! It was the very first time my "twinlike" little sis came to visit!
Of course she wanted to take the cat back with her...
Of course she wanted to take the cat back with her...
On Sunday morning, before we started preparing the picnic to spend a few hours in a public garden with my parents, I took up my sis's measurements and could finally make her a skirt! I've been meaning to do that for a long time (I had actually bought that blue flowery cotton especially for her), but my sister kept putting off the measuring up... And there's not much I can do without that!
Here's the skirt, which is a variation on mine - she wanted a shorter one with a little ruffle at the bottom:

Cute eh? It comes just below the knee. The bottom ruffle is 2.50 metres long!

Quite honestly, I didn't think I'd manage to finish up the skirt before Lil Sis left at 5 (we came back from the garden at past 3 o'clock) but I finally did it! I even had the time to take pictures, as you can see!
But of course, the second time you're making a garment is always much quicker (even with variations).
But of course, the second time you're making a garment is always much quicker (even with variations). Now I've used that skirt design a second time, I feel confident enough to post a tutorial. The only regret I have is that I obviously didn't have the time to take pictures of each step...

Isabelle, another beautiful skirt. My teenage DD(will turn 16 next week)is sitting here at the computer with me and she wants me to tell you that your skirt is "PERFECT". We are actually going shopping tomorrow to try and find a couple of skirts for her. The only problem is that the current so called style around here is short, short and short skirts. The kind you can't bend over in.LOL
So it will be an adventure tomorrow to find a nice skirt or two for her. As soon as she saw your skirt she said "that is the kind of skirt I want to find".
Wish us luck.
Wow I love the skirt you have made. I wish I got along with sewing machines, we just don't seem to like each other!!
I found your site from your comment on Missy's blog. I'd love to add you to mine if you don't mind.
very pretty skirt Isabelle. Well done. Ann.
Oh you must enjoy stitching very much to make so many beautiful and different things. I like stitching but only to make Art Cloth dolls
